Pedicure Treatments - Stone and Salt Pedicure Treatments
This isn’t so much a conventional pedicure treatment, rather is more like a foot massage or a
foot spa. The whole idea behind the use of stone leans more towards foot reflexology rather than pedicures. Salts compliment the stones as it
subjects to skin to essential salts which can be rubbed in with the help of a stone massage.
The first step, as with any proper pedicure treatment is to wash your feet thoroughly. In Stone
and Salt Pedicure Treatments is normal that you will have your feet washed first then bathed again. This is quite normal as the first wash is
designed to get rid of any grime while the second bathing is a part of the rejuvenation process.
After the feet are washed and cleaned, the next step involves preparing the Stone and Salt
bathing solution. The specification of each rock is quite important. All the rocks should be from the river bed and be nicely rounded with no
sharp edges. The purpose of the rocks is to provide a nice massage and isn’t meant to be rough. The salts should at very least be sea salt which
has many other essential minerals rather than just sodium.
Mix in salt, in about a 1-20 mixture compared to water. Remember, you don’t need that much
water because you only need to bath the feet this time, it isn’t about cleaning the feet and washing of soap. Get about 20 different stones of
varying sizes (make sure they are clean) and place them in the same basin.
Generally when it comes to these types of advanced pedicure types, it’s much better to have
someone else do it for you. A normal nail salon will charge anything from $60-$100 for this service but for the pleasure its well worth it. The
treatment should start with the pedicurist bathing your feet with the salted solution first to get your skin revitalized first. Then the
massaging should start with the stones. The massaging motion should be from you calves downwards and never upwards. This brings fresh blood to
the feet and creates the rejuvenation experience. The salt will help by improving circulation around your feet while also reducing tenderness if
there are any sores or bruises.
After the bathing, you feet have to be rinsed in running water so that the salts are washed
away. After the rejuvenating massage your feet should feel much better and well rested. The next step of the procedures is exactly the same as
most other pedicure treatments where you now need to trim the nails to the desired length followed by filing.
With pedicures I always suggest that clients go for buffing instead of applying polish. This is
especially true when your feet have gone through a stone and salt pedicure treatment. The salt used would have made the nails particularly buffer
friendly thus keeping the shine for much longer than when compared to normal situations.
